2019 Tinte Cellars Rosé of Counoise

This 100% Counoise was sourced from Marcela Vineyard in Zillah, WA, part of the Rattlesnake Hills and Yakima Valley AVA. As of 2012 only 15 acres of Counoise was planted in WA state.  Counoise is a grape traditionally used as one of the blending components in the wines of Southern France. It is a wine with a decent amount of acidity but not a tremendous depth of color or tannin, which makes it particularly well suited for the kind of rosé Tinte Cellars produces.

The grapes were whole cluster pressed. This allowed for delicate extraction of color and phenols. The resulting juice was pumped directly into concrete egg for fermentation and afterwards aging. Fermentation in concrete eggs allows for stable temperatures throughout fermentation to preserve aroma, constant agitation of solids and yeast to enhance mouthfeel.

Tasting Notes:

Aromas of rose petals, peach, and apricot, define this crisp, refreshing wine. With flavors of stone fruit complemented by faint flavors of guava and grapefruit, this wine would serve well on its own or with any spring or summer food.
